TOPIC: IN SEARCH OF TRUTH
THEME SCRIPTURE: "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." — John 7:16–18
PREPARATORY QUESTION
- How does our genuineness affect how we perceive truth?
As opposition kept growing, Jesus makes a clarifying statement: “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the One who sent me.” Then He adds something profound—anyone who desires or chooses to do God’s will will know whether His teaching is from God or not.
Beloved in Christ, understanding is not just intellectual—it’s relational and responsive.
Many people in the crowd questioned Jesus’ authority after all the miracles and the deep sayings of the Spirit. They debated His background, His education, His credentials. But Jesus redirects the issue: the real barrier is not lack of evidence—it’s lack of willingness.
Truth is not hidden from those who genuinely seek it. But it often remains unclear to those who only want confirmation of their own views.
Beloved, Jesus exposes a subtle tension: we don’t just evaluate truth—we are also evaluated by it. His words reveal whether we are open to God’s will or protective of our own intents and motives.
Watch this: Obedience sharpens discernment. If you are ready to obey, your heart is open to receive clarity. However, if you want the truth to bend to your will, you are only looking for an argument. This is why Jesus' hearers, in the face of clear evidence, miracles, were debating the non-essential.
Jesus also contrasts motives: those who speak on their own seek personal glory, but those who speak from God seek His glory. This is a quiet test for our hearts. Are we pursuing truth to align with God—or to elevate ourselves?
Following Jesus requires more than curiosity. It requires surrender; it requires yielding. And when surrender comes first in our quest for truth, clarity becomes possible.
Key Takeaway
Spiritual clarity grows when you are willing to obey what God has already revealed.
Precious one, in the quiet moments of the day, examine your heart whether you're genuine in your walk with Jesus. Whether you desire the Truth, or you have your truths. Where you fall short, surrender.
Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD
- Am I genuinely open to God’s truth, even when it challenges me?
- Where might I be delaying obedience while waiting for more clarity?
- What is one step of obedience I can take today based on what I already know?
PRAYER
Lord, align my heart with Your will. Remove any resistance that keeps me from recognizing Your truth. Teach me to obey what You’ve already shown me, and give me discernment as I follow You. From today, my life is seeking Your glory, not my own. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
