TOPIC: WHEN GOD STEPS INTO THE FLOOD
THEME SCRIPTURE: "And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,) That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho." —Joshua 3:15–16
PREPARATORY QUESTION
1. Can God make a way where there seems to be no way?
It was harvest time and the Jordan River was over flooded. At flood stage, the Jordan was not a minor obstacle— it was a barrier at its strongest. Yet God did not wait for the waters to recede. He instructed the priests to step into it.
This moment was more than a miracle; it was a declaration. In a culture familiar with “trial by water,” [determining the guilty or the innocent by simply throwing him into a river. If the accused drowned, he was guilty; if he didn’t, he was innocent!], God placed Himself at the center of this trial.
The Ark entering the river symbolized His presence standing in the place of uncertainty and danger. The result was unmistakable: the waters stopped, the ground dried, and a path appeared where none existed.
The living God could not be drowned by nature.
God was proving something—not just to surrounding nations, but to His own people. The previous generation had witnessed the Red Sea, but this generation needed its own encounter. Faith cannot survive on borrowed testimonies alone. It must be anchored in present experiences and personal testimonies.
Precious one, the same pattern holds today. God does not merely rely on past works alone to sustain our trust. He continues to act—often in situations that feel overwhelming, immovable, or beyond your control. But notice the order: the priests stepped in first. The miracle followed their obedience.
When facing your own “flooded Jordan,” the question is not whether God is able, but whether you are willing to trust Him enough to move forward before the outcome is visible.
Key Takeaway
God reveals His power not only through past acts but through present intervention—often after a step of obedience into uncertainty.
Beloved, you may come to the place of Jordan as you go through the day. No matter how flooded your Jordan may be, obedience to God is your sure way through it. Never be intimidated; the Lord your God is with you.
Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD
1. What situation in your life feels like an overflowing river right now?
2. Have you been waiting for conditions to change before acting in faith?
3. What step of obedience might God be asking you to take today?
4. How has God shown Himself faithful to you personally in the past?
PRAYER
Lord, You are the living God who is not confined to history. You are present and active in my life today. Give me the courage to step forward in obedience, even when the path is unclear. Help me trust that You are already at work in the places that seem impossible. Let my life be marked by fresh evidence of Your power and faithfulness. In Jesus's precious name, Amen.
