TOPIC: WALKING WITH THE PRINCIPLED GOD

THEME SCRIPTURE: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.” – Isaiah 55:8

PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:

  1. What are the ways of God and what are His thoughts?

Can two walk together without agreeing (Amos 3:3)? Can man walk with God without knowing and living within His character and nature?

We live in an era and a time where information abounds yet knowledge is scarce. The explosion of information today is not proportional to the knowledge we have about God. It takes a conscious effort to seek, know, and understand God and His ways. God created all things, and He determined everything in existence's use and relevance. Nothing exists that is a result of the things wanting to exist—be it humans’ animals, plants, mountains, hills, water bodies, etc. (Gen 6:7). Creation is a result of His sovereign will, and all things reflect His “principle of existence.” Interestingly, man, who is the supreme of God’s creation, has no power to create something out of nothing. Everything depends on things outside itself. Plants need air, and animals need plants and other animals to survive. Mankind needs oxygen, plants and flesh for food, water, etc. We live on what God has provided. This brings us to God’s “principle of dependence.” There is a reason and a purpose within God’s creation, and man can only survive and function properly within creation when he acts in accordance with the Creator’s mandate— “His principle of obedience.” Then comes the critical question: “What if man becomes disobedient to his Creator’s mandate?” All of mankind’s problems stem from one thing: disobeying God’s principles and the “principle of consequence” followed.

Precious one, we cannot walk with God according to our ways. Neither can we make progress with God according to our thoughts.

Until we choose to know His ways and remain in His principles, statutes, and commandments, we will go nowhere with God. For instance, it should be crystal clear to every child of God that he or she exists for God’s glory (Isa 43:6-7), and without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). Therefore, it is not Christianity to live for yourself, child of God. The Apostle Paul, understanding the essence of his existence, said, “For none of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore or die, we are the Lord’s.” (Rom 14:7-8). He also understood his dependency on God in this Christian journey, and he concluded, “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13).

Beloved, God’s principles of obedience and consequence are real. You can’t live anyhow, child of God. You are to live in obedience to God’s commandments.

To obey is to do what He has instructed. Therefore, Jesus said, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” (Rev. 22:13-14). As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God’s ways higher than our ways and his thoughts higher than ours. Hence, the Holy Spirit of God is given to us to help us realize our essence in Christ, our dependence on Christ, and also our obedience to Christ’s commandments, so we can live in union with our Lord. God bless you more.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:

  1. How are you living your life to the glory of God?
  2. How are you dependent on the Holy Spirit of God and also eager to obey God’s commandments?

CONFESSION

The life and righteousness of God has been imparted to me, and the Spirit of God dwells in me. My life is not my own, and I live this life to the glory of God. My loyalty is to Christ and my obedience to His word, statues and commandments is absolute from henceforth. Hallelujah!
