TOPIC: NOTHING IS HIDDEN FOREVER
THEME SCRIPTURE: “So also good works are conspicuous, and even those that are not cannot remain hidden.” - 1 Timothy 5:25
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- Is there really secrets in life if God knows everything?
- Why do we get comfortable doing unworthy things in the dark even though God sees and knows what we do?
Brethren in Christ, you and I have to get used to the fact that nothing we do is hidden. It might have been hard for us, some decades of years back, to understand that God is able to keep records of the actions of each of the 9 billion people on the face of the earth. But today, in a computerized world, where a tiny silicone chip can hold one hundred million or more pieces of information, it is easier to appreciate how God could keep records of our lives.
In our focus scripture, Paul shares with Timothy some valuable observations. The emphasis is on the basis that whatever we do in this life cannot be hidden forever; whether good or bad.
The context of this observation is in the Church and this assures that the deeds of those who do evil go on ahead of them and can immediately be dealt with. In like manner, those that craftily hide their bad deeds cannot hide anymore with time.
In comparison to those in the church whose deeds are sinful, he affirms that the same principle applies to those whose deeds are good. Thus “So also good works are conspicuous, and even those that are not cannot remain hidden.” There are those whose good works are visible and can easily be seen by all, whereas there are those who also love to work behind the scenes.
Contextually, the lesson here for us and in pursuit of his encouragement not to lay hands hastily is to be cautious when appointing people to leadership as there is the tendency to hastily appoint those who may be craftily hiding their sins.
There’s the tendency to overlook those who are doing good behind the scenes as well.
We need to note that in both scenarios, God sees everything we ever imagine and engage in. While we can deceive ourselves that we can outwit our fellow humans by hiding things away from them, it is not the case with God. Being conscious of this - everything is plain before God and this should guide our actions and inactions, knowing that there is nothing hidden that shall not be revealed or covered that shall not be known (Luke 12:20), either here on earth or when Jesus returns to judge the living and the dead.
Beloved in Christ, this is an encouragement to continue bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit whether others recognize them or not.
It is also a counsel, not to conclude rashly and a warning to those who hide behind the scenes to foment trouble, that God sees and will bring everything to light.
This is why you need to resolve to shine as the Christian you are at home, the workplace and in your local church irrespective of the changing times. God bless you.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
- Do you live for the applause of men or God’s approval?
- Are you living with any hidden sins?
CONFESSION
Heavenly Father, help me to be conscious of the fact that you are the God who sees all and that nothing can be hidden from you. By the power of the Holy Spirit of God, who enables me, I am living for your applause only, rather than for man’s, in Christ Jesus. Amen.
