TOPIC: FROM SELF-RELIANCE TO CHRIST-RELIANCE

PREPARATORY QUESTION 

1. What are you relying on today—your achievements, your morality, or your faith in Christ?

 

 

Saul of Tarsus was a man of remarkable pedigree, discipline, and religious passion. By every human measure, he had an impressive résumé. Yet after encountering the risen Christ,  he came to a life-altering conclusion:  everything he once trusted to make him acceptable before God was insufficient.  His confidence shifted from personal performance to the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Conversion is more than changing opinions or adopting new habits. It is a complete reorientation of the heart. Saul no longer viewed salvation as something earned through effort but as a gift received through faith. The cross exposed the futility of self-righteousness and revealed the sufficiency of Christ's sacrifice. What he once prized became secondary because he had found what truly mattered.

This same invitation confronts us today. We can spend our lives trying to prove ourselves—to God,  to others, and even to ourselves—or we can rest in what Christ has already accomplished.  Faith does not produce complacency;  it produces transformed living.  When Christ becomes the foundation of your identity, obedience flows from gratitude rather than obligation, and your life becomes a testimony that points others to Him.

True conversion always leaves visible evidence. A changed heart inevitably shapes a changed life, and a changed life becomes God's instrument for changing the world.

PRAYER 

Father, thank You that my acceptance before You is not earned but received through faith in Jesus Christ. Expose every area where I depend on my own strength or achievements. Teach me to rest completely in Christ's finished work and let my transformed life reflect His grace wherever I go. In Jesus' name, Amen.
