TOPIC: REMAINING HUMBLE WHEN GOD BLESSES YOU
THEME SCRIPTURE: “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth…”—Deuteronomy 8:18
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS
- How do you protect your heart from pride when things are going well in your life?
Many people seek God earnestly in difficult seasons but become spiritually careless once success, comfort, or recognition arrives. Yet prosperity can test the heart just as much as hardship. Blessings are meant to deepen gratitude and dependence on God, not create self-sufficiency.
One subtle danger of success is forgetting how much we truly need God. Achievements, opportunities, and growth can gradually produce pride if we begin to rely more on our abilities than on God’s grace. Scripture repeatedly warns believers not to allow blessings to replace humility.
Scripture says, “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” Pride often develops quietly. It appears when people stop listening to correction, begin seeking personal glory, or look down on others. A proud heart becomes resistant to wisdom and easily distracted from God’s purpose.
Humility does not mean pretending you have accomplished nothing. It means recognizing that every opportunity, gift, and achievement ultimately comes from God. Humble people remain teachable, grateful, and aware that they are sustained by God’s mercy daily.
Success should increase stewardship, not arrogance. The more God entrusts to you, the more important it becomes to maintain prayer, integrity, generosity, and dependence on Him. Public success without private humility eventually creates spiritual weakness.
The Bible also reminds us that God gives grace to the humble. Humility keeps the heart aligned with God even during seasons of increase and recognition.
It is also important to celebrate others without comparison or superiority. Pride isolates, but humility strengthens relationships and keeps compassion alive. Never allow achievement to make you forget the value of people or the importance of serving others.
Key Takeaway
Blessings should produce gratitude and humility, not pride or self-dependence. A humble heart remains teachable, grateful, and close to God.
When God blesses you, remain grounded. Continue seeking Him sincerely, honoring others, and remembering that every good thing flows from His hand.
God bless you.
