TOPIC: MAKE ROOM FOR THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD

THEME SCRIPTURE: "But we will devote ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word." — Acts 6:4

PREPARATORY QUESTION 

Is God's Word shaping your life daily, or is it competing with everything else for your attention?

When the early church experienced rapid growth, the apostles faced increasing demands. Instead of allowing urgent responsibilities to distract them from what was essential, they intentionally prioritized prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4). They understood that while many tasks were important, the Word of God was indispensable.

Scripture describes the Word as a ministry because it actively works in those who receive it. "The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple" (Psalm 119:130). God's Word is not merely information to be studied but truth that transforms. It brings life where there is spiritual dryness, wisdom where there is confusion, and strength where there is weakness.

Before anyone can minister effectively to others, they must first be ministered to by the Word. A believer who consistently sits under God's instruction develops discernment, conviction, and spiritual maturity. Out of that inward work flows encouragement, counsel, and truth that blesses others.

Sadly, many believers are gradually losing this ministry in their daily lives. Endless distractions, busy schedules, and constant digital noise leave little room for Scripture to speak deeply to the heart. We may read many things, yet neglect the one voice that gives lasting life.

God's Word deserves more than a passing glance. It deserves our attention, our meditation, and our obedience. As we deliberately make room for it each day, we discover that the Word continues to shape our character, renew our minds, and prepare us to serve others faithfully.

PRAYER 

Father, awaken in me a deeper hunger for Your Word. Remove every distraction that keeps me from hearing Your voice. Let Your Word bring light, life, wisdom, and transformation to my heart. Shape me daily so that I may faithfully minister to others from a life that has first been ministered to by You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
